The Balıkesir University Balıkesir Region Cultural Research and Application Center was established by the decision of the Executive Board of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) dated 17 July 1998, in accordance with Article Annex-1 of the Regulation on Academic Organization in Universities.
The founding director of the Balıkesir Region Cultural Research and Application Center is Prof. Dr. Ali DUYMAZ. Between 2005–2007, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet AÇA served as director, and between 2007–2015, Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdülkerim GÜLHAN held the position of director.
